Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

At Wellington Dental Guelph, we believe that quality dental care should be accessible to everyone in our community. That’s why we’re proud to accept patients covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) – a federal program designed to help eligible Canadians get the oral health care they need without the burden of high out-of-pocket costs.
If you’ve been putting off dental visits because of cost, the CDCP may be your opportunity to take back control of your smile. Our friendly team is here to guide you through every step of the process.
A Dental Crown is a custom-shaped tooth restoration placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its strength, appearance, and function. The process involves filing down the existing tooth, taking an impression, fitting a temporary crown, and finally cementing a permanent crown. Crowns are used to protect teeth after root canals, repair cracks, or improve the appearance of severely decayed teeth.

At Wellington Dental, we offer high-quality dental crowns in Guelph to restore damaged or weakened teeth. Dental crowns are a reliable solution in restorative dentistry, helping improve both the function and appearance of your smile.

We are open 7 days a week with evening appointments, making it easy to get the care you need at a time that works for you.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a federally funded program that reduces financial barriers to dental care for Canadians who do not have access to private dental insurance. It covers a wide range of oral health services – from routine cleanings and checkups to more complex restorative and surgical treatments.

The plan is administered through Sun Life Financial on behalf of the Government of Canada, and coverage levels are determined by your adjusted family net income.

Am I Eligible for the CDCP?

To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are a Canadian resident who has filed a tax return for the previous year
  • You do not have access to private dental insurance (through an employer, pension plan, or otherwise)
  • Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000 annually
  • You meet the age requirements set by the federal government

Eligibility is reassessed each year, so annual renewal is required to maintain your coverage. Once you receive your Notice of Assessment from the CRA, you can renew through the Government of Canada website or your My Service Canada Account (MSCA).

How Much Does the CDCP Cover?

The CDCP offers three tiers of coverage based on your household income:

  • 100% coverage – for those with an adjusted family net income under $70,000
  • 60% coverage – for those with an income between $70,000 and $79,999
  • 40% coverage – for those with an income between $80,000 and $89,999

Please note that the CDCP uses its own fee guide, which may differ from Ontario’s standard dental fee guide. In some cases, a co-payment or small balance may be owed. Our team will always review your expected costs with you before any treatment begins – no surprises.
